Wallace Miners know hard work pays off. The annual scholarship ceremony at Wallace Jr/Sr High School is a powerful reminder of this and the class of 2025 understood the assignment. On May 27th graduating seniors earned over $515,158 in scholarship monies to attend colleges, universities and trade programs. Miners crushed the 2024 go-on rate with an expected 76% of the class attending colleges, universities and trade programs in the fall. We are very proud of the perseverance and scholarship of each of our students.
Miners take care of their own and Wallace students are grateful for the more than 12 memorial and alumni scholarships offered exclusively to Wallace students with most of them being renewable for 4 years. These generous endowments represent more than $101,898 each year. Thank you to: Morehouse, Morbeck, Magnuson, Tyvand, Kingsbury, Weber, Luoma, Bair/Darrington, Gunderson, Larson, Iszler, Class of ‘87, Class of ‘21, Huff, Cuthbert, Dean, and Zanetti Scholarships.
We also appreciate our local clubs and organizations which fund scholarships each year including: Wallace Elks, Rotary, Kiwanis, Eastern Star, PEO, Osburn Lions, Gyros, Friends of the River Coalition, McDonalds, Women in Mining, Wallace Education Association, Jackass Marathon, North Idaho Higher Education, and The Shoshone Democratic Committee.
Realizing the benefit of staying local, more than $275,260 was granted through college and university endowments including $140,260 from the University of Idaho. $4,000 from North Idaho College.
It is no secret that higher education is expensive, but with the help of generous donors the dream of college and career is achievable for 19 more Wallace Miners! Hard work does indeed pay off!
