Financial Aide

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Federal Student Aid plays an essential role in postsecondary education by providing money for college for eligible students and families.

  • October 1st: first day to submit your FAFSA

  • Grants vs. Loans: grants do NOT have to be re-paid, but loans DO

  • In "Financial Aid Package", loans are often listed with grants that you are eligible for--read through this section carefully

  • Pell Grants are only issued to students who meet qualifications and submit a complete FAFSA by the deadline

  • FAFSA offers other supplemental grants on a first-come, first-served basis.  You must meet criteria and be one of the first applications received after October 1st

  • Submitting FAFSA online is the fastest method

  • You may send your information to up to 6 colleges.  It's good to look up college codes before January 1st

  • SUBMIT YOUR FAFSA ONLINE BEFORE YOU FILE YOUR TAXES (use last year's tax information)

Scholarships

Thousands of dollars in local and national scholarships are awarded to Wallace seniors each year.  Deadlines begin in November and continue through June.  Make sure to check deadlines often!
